How We Celebrated Halloween 2020 + DIY Face Paint for Kids and 5 Easy Costume Ideas for Virtual Halloween Party - Life with ZG
Our tradition of celebrating Halloween still goes on, even though it's so much different from the usual. Since there's still Covid 19 and children are not yet allowed to go out. Virtual parties are the new normal. Somehow sad to see children celebrating alone in front of the screen, but way better than not celebrating at all. The fun continues thanks to technology.
How We Celebrated Halloween 2020.
As early as the last week of September, Zoe and I decorated our room and made decors for Halloween. I also bought big bags of chocolates and candies to fill up her pumpkin buckets. It is the time of the year where I have an excuse to purchase big packs of chocolates that we both can share.
Every year, Zoe joins at least 3 Halloween events. And I always make sure to DIY her costumes. And she looks forward to it because every year since she consistently bagged the best in costume in every event. But this year, I have little time to prepare since I only purchased her Halloween Kit two days before the event.
5 Easy Last-Minute Halloween Costumes.
So, sharing our last minute DIY costumes that you might want to try next year.
Mummy
All you need is a tissue roll and face paint. We used DIY face paint for this.
Here's the recipe for DIY Face Paint:
- An equal amount of Coconut Oil, and Cornstarch. (Since we wanted a thicker consistency. 1:1 ratio. )
- Food color, or Drop of Washable paint.
The paint smells like coconut of course, and has a glossy finish, unlike the store brought face paint, but works well.
Dia De Los Muertos
Dia De Los Muertos was one of Zoe's makeup last year, but since she wanted to do a twinning costume for this year, we opted to do this makeup again at the last minute.
Queen Elsa
Queen Elsa for the nth time! You all know how Zoe loves Frozen movies mainly, Queen Elsa. So for a different look, I just spiced it up with a little face paint. Oh, and since it's a virtual Halloween party, she came with her very own Olaf. Trick or treat ain't boring with your BFF!
Witch
Onesies
Virtual Halloween Parties.
Zoe joined two virtual Halloween parties and, she had a blast. Lots of singing, dancing, storytelling, and games. Until now, she can't get enough of Halloween. Zoe always looks forward to dressing up for Halloween, and it's one of her favorite events.
The Halloween Kit from Vista Mall is such a steal. It contains a Vampirina Bag, I spy book, Deep Boo Sea Activity Book, Slime Kit, and some treats for only 399 PHP! Zoe also had fun with Captain Hook and Ariel. Next year Zoe wanted us to be Ariel, so I guess I need to lose weight before November. Haha, kidding aside, let's enjoy dressing up with our kids until they still want to do twinning with us.
